A stunning West-Sussex wedding venue. Hosting the story, autumn account and tribute blog to such a happy, smiley wedding day…….despite the rain!

I got to know Sophie during our planning months. It was an inspiration to see her unflappable approach to the sometimes daunting prospect of wedding planning. This positivity carried her right through to the big day and the rain didn’t for a second dampen the great atmosphere or dispel her gorgeous infectious smile.

Wedding Preparations in the Bridal Suite at Farbridge, West-Sussex Wedding Venue

Personally delivering the bride and bridesmaids bouquets is one of the best parts of my job. I love the buzz of wedding morning nerves and excitement. It’s also a huge privilege to arrive with a big, beautiful, box of bouquets.

The bridal suite and getting-ready room at Farbridge Barns is just beautiful and really well equipped for the bridal preparations. The suite also works as a backdrop for bouquet photos too!

Farbridge Barn, wedding ceremony

Sophie and Henry’s wedding ceremony took place in the Meadow Barn. This is generally the ceremony space and then it cunningly changes into the party room, for dancing later on in the evening.

As it was an autumn wedding Sophie requested candles to compliment the flowers and to be a part of the wedding decorations. The ceremony was the first opportunity to add the candles and as the Meadow Barn has two very large, and very gorgeous terracotta bowls in the entrance that’s where we began. The lanterns were nestled amongst fabulous aromatic eucalyptus branches and jewel-like coloured miniature cyclamen plants. I love the opportunity to weave plants into the designs if I can. This meant that Sophie & Henry could either take them home afterwards to plant in their garden. Alternatively, they could give them away to friends and family as a growing wedding-day memento.

For the ceremony, I suggested that we accentuate the aisle walkway with glass hurricane lanterns at the chair-ends and on alternate rows. Each lantern had a long-burning, chunky church candle and a pool of fresh rose petals within. As the guests arrived to take their seats the hurricane lanterns guided their eyes down the length of the room, to then focus on the statement floral arch!

The floral arch was a stunning backdrop to the ceremony and as the weather gods offered a little rain [it poured all day!], the arch was also the perfect “plan B” for the photographs.

Sarah, [the photographer] wasn’t going to miss a trick with that one and made great use of it, as the pictures had to take place inside.

Farbridge Barn, Wedding Venue – Wedding Breakfast

The main barn area was the set-up for the wedding breakfast, and I love working with other suppliers to all add our ‘bit’ to the grand design. The lovely team at Stressfree provided the twinkle, with the gorgeous ceiling strings of white lights. An elegant, framed-mirror, table plan indicated everyone’s seats.

More smiles as all the guests welcomed the bride and groom to the wedding breakfast and Sophie and Henry made their way to top table.

The ushers also took the opportunity after the ceremony to move the floral arch. They re-positioned and re-purposed the decoration to the main barn for the wedding breakfast. Which continued to be enjoyed as a photo backdrop.

The wedding was a wonderful day and the weather improved for the evening. So much so, that all of the guests gathered outside for a guard of honour which wound up with sparklers. The final twinkle of a beautiful day.
